Junior Associate (Commercial, Property Litigation)

Synopsis

Our client is an internationally recognised and leading African law firm, specialising in providing intellectual property and commercial law service. And they require a Junior (mid-level Associate) to join their team.


Minimum Requirements

Qualifications:

-Must be an Admitted Attorney
-Some Personal Injury and/or Family law background
-Litigation Experience

Afrikaans speaking (irrelevant of race)

Skills & knowledge:

-Computer literate in Microsoft Office
-Fully conversant in Afrikaans and English
-Ability to work under pressure while keeping calm
-Ability to work independently, use initiative and be able to work on several matters at a time
-Good communication skills
-Ability to work accurately with attention to detail
-Willingness to learn and become efficient and effective towards carrying out responsibilities
-Problem solving & decision making
-Ability to attract clients and build relationships
-Good base knowledge of family and personal injury law
-A willingness to go the extra mile and spent the additional time and effort required to achieve objectives and to meet deadlines


Role Description

Duties & Responsibilities:

-Prepare correspondence to clients and opponents
-Analyze documentation and instructions and prepare legal advice
-Prepare instructions to counsel and experts
-Prepare matters for trial in the High & Magistrate’s Courts, gather evidence, arrange consultations
-Formulate pleadings, requests for particulars, pre-trial questions and all other court notices
-Liaise and consult with clients and provide accurate advice and legal opinions
-Limited appearances in the Maintenance, Children’s and Family Violence Courts from time to time
-Prepare marketing material, including articles for publication
-Attend to research
-Generate fees and grow the practice
-Ensure proper file and account management
-Manage support staff
-Generate and follow up on invoices from clients
