Synopsis

Our client is looking for a Senior Merger & Acquisitions Analyst to join their team. The successful candidate will be required to investigate mergers and acquisitions, as part of a team and/or independently.

If you are energetic and have an aptitude for investigating; research and analysis of complex economic or legal issues, and are interested in joining a hard working team of competition practitioners, for the challenging position of a Senior Merger & Acquisitions Analyst.
The core function of a Senior Analyst is to investigate mergers and acquisitions, as part of a team and/or independently. The position reports to the Principal Analyst (Head of a Section).


Minimum Requirements

We are looking for a dynamic, hardworking and committed individual who is in possession of:
A Master’s Degree in Economics, LLB or equivalent qualification.
4-6years overall experience including 2-3 years in a management position.
Admission as an attorney or advocate would be an added advantage.
Strategic thinker with strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to exercise sound judgment.
Understanding and interest in competition law/ economics matters.

Role Description

Key Responsibilities:
Duties include, amongst others:
To investigate merger cases notified to the Commission in terms of Chapter 3 of the Competition Act and accompanying Rules and make recommendations to decision makers.
To conduct research and provide advice to decision makers on the impact of mergers in the economy.
To monitor merger conditions.
To lead, supervise and provide guidance to a small team of merger analysts.
To assist the Divisional Manager with the strategic planning, staff management, and development as well as general administration of the Mergers and Acquisitions Division.
