Synopsis

Our client is a JSE listed fund manager focusing on the South African and African financial services industry and businesses that deliver exceptional returns on equity. They are currently looking to employ a Legal Advisor to join their organization


Minimum Requirements

Admitted Attorney
LLB or higher
2-4 years' experience in the financial services industry (private equity would be beneficial) / 2-4 yeas PQE if from a law firm (the size does not matter)
Strong technical skills and confident
Flawless command of the English language
An assertive self-starter with excellent communication, organisation and presentation skills
Excellent conflict handling skills
The ability to work under pressure while maintaining high service levels
Must be a team player
Attention to detail very critical
Independent and a self starter


Role Description

Drafting and/or reviewing of the following:

- MOI’s, Trust deeds etc.
- Shareholders Agreements, Subscription Agreements, Pref Share Agreements etc.
- Funding Agreements (basic understanding of LMA would be beneficial), Security Documents
- Drafting of other various agreements when required

Providing support across various business units.
Assisting with internal policy development, management and implementation
Implement and manage legal matters pertaining to the organisation, including but not limited to:

- Providing timeous and accurate legal advice
- Conducting research into a variety of legal issues
- Liaising with relevant departments to ensure that where legal risks have been identified, appropriate courses of action have been
taken
- Reporting on matters on a continuous basis
- Complying with all laws as well as internal policies and procedures
- Provide effective and efficient legal advice to various internal stakeholders on legal issues concerning, amongst others governance, compliance, litigation, dispute resolution and contract management
