Legal Manager – Property (LEGLN72762)

Synopsis

To conduct research on government policies and laws impacting on property law, drafting and compiling of legal documentation for use by various stakeholders, managing the implementation of corporate governance and statutory requirements within the company and ensuring effective management of record keeping. Monitor and timeously report on legislation impacting the property industry and provide comprehensive support on current and future legal queries and requirements which include the interpretation of amendments and all legislation impacting the property sector as well as responding to current member and colleague queries regarding the property industry.
To assist with issues relating to Town Planning that affect the industry and liaise with Local Municipalities and Provincial Departments.


Minimum Requirements

Minimum
BA/ LLB or equivalent

Advantageous
Project Management Certificate
General Office Administration Certificate

Must have managed the Legal Department of an establishment in the property/government sector with a proven track record of handling legal aspects of a business and representing the organisation at major negations in both the Public and Private sector.
Must have a working knowledge of Town Planning and related issues. 10-15 years experience

Excellent research, reporting ability and necessary skill to analyse reports prepared and timeously action matters arising where necessary within the sphere of property. 10-15 years experience

Knowledge of the property industry as well as Government legislation formulation processes. 8 years experience

8 Years worth of Knowledge of South African Property Legislation:
 Legal knowledge.
 Property Law knowledge.
 Commercial Law knowledge.
 Intellectual Property Law knowledge.
 SPLUMA

8 years worth of Knowledge of ALL the following: Expropriation Bill, Restitution of Land Act, Property Valuation Act, Construction Regulations, Deeds Registry Act, Sectional Title Act, Town Planning Schemes, Municipal Finance Management Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Estate Agency Affairs Act, Consumer Protection Act, Competition Act, Companies Act and all South African Legislation (Acts, Bills, Amendments, Draft Papers) and
Regulations pertaining to property development and management.

8 Years worth of Knowledge of:
 MS Word – Intermediate.
 MS Excel – Advanced.
 MS Outlook – Intermediate.
 MS PowerPoint – Intermediate.

Role Description

• Manage Legal and General Compliance and Town Planning requirements
• Provide legal support and advisory as and when required by the company
• Manage all internal and External legal queries relating to the property industry through providing services of a high standard
• Appoint and ensure effective management of Legal Consultants an or advisers
• Conduct research on the latest amended legislation and draft all legal related contracts, agreements and reports for both
internal and external matters
• Ensure that all timeframes stipulated are met accordingly
• Manage the Committee Coordinators portfolio to ensure that all performance objectives are set in accordance to set principals
and that these performance objectives are achieved
• Self-monitoring and upholding the values of the establishment at all times in order to ensure development and alignment to
the achievement of company goals and sustainability
