Senior Porfolio Administrator – Insurance

Synopsis

Our client is a registered short term insurance Company which specialises in underwriting bank loans and offshore investments and provides export credit and foreign investment insurance cover.

The purpose of this role is to implement the policies in the insurance portfolio, with emphasis on monitoring
and restructuring of transactions to reduce potential default. The focus of this job is to provide accurate
and timely information on the progress of projects supported by our client, with reference to risk changes, and
to represent our client's interests during engagements with the insured and other stakeholders to achieve a
favourable outcome. The incumbent of this role will also be responsible to coach & mentor junior staff.


Minimum Requirements

An Honor’s degree with specialisation in Economics, Accountancy, Finance, Banking, Law or
Engineering.
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in project structuring, monitoring, and workout.
• Experience in financial analysis, underwriting and/or implementation of loans and legal
agreements.
• Conversant with short term insurance products related to import and export.
• FAIS accredited.
The incumbent should have demonstrated the following competencies:
• Analytical skills.
• Financial analysis and working knowledge of financial models.
• Understanding of project structuring, MLT cross-border trade and underwriting principles.
• Knowledge of (un)secured lending practices, documentation and legal requirements.
• Knowledge of international business, contractual and corporate financial practices and
accounting.
• Interpret and implement of loan and legal agreements.
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing, at senior level.
• Ability to communicate underwriting concepts to non-specialists.
• Strict attention to detail and deadline orientated.
• Commitment to highest ethical standards.


Role Description

• Monitor progress of projects in the insurance portfolio.
• Monitor the insured projects risk variability and make recommendations for proactive risk mitigation.
• Provide periodic updates for insured projects and give recommendations to EXCO for approval.
• Propose the Incurred but Not Reported (IBNR) reserve for projects in default.
• Develop a plan of action to protect and improve our client's position on distressed projects:
negotiating achievable amortization schedules, obtain additional collateral and finalize debt
rescheduling.
• Participate in due diligence visits with the aim to represent our client's interests in the formulation of a
workable plan i.e. unpaid premium, cost overruns, repayment extension, etc.
• Represent our client in all stakeholder’ discussions on distressed insured projects.
• Prepare & present waiver requests and contract amendments recommendations to EXCO for
approval.
• Compile submissions on projects restructuring proposals and present to EXCO, Finance Insurance
and Investment Committee and Board for consideration.
• Liaise with the relevant internal stakeholders the details of proposed restructuring to determine
adequacy of risk mitigation and related costs / premium pricing.
• Communicate our client's resolutions, in relation to proposed workout/restructuring for projects in
distress, to relevant stakeholders.
Make presentations to banks and exporters about our client's insurance administration and
monitoring procedures.
• Provide ongoing skills transfer and support to Portfolio Administrators.
• Check work prepared by Portfolio Administrators for correctness and compliance to internal
controls.
• Performs all other duties, as assigned.
